Inland Location

• DSM is located well outside the Coastland Hurricane/Storm Surge Flood Area and close to the highest elevation in Central Florida.
• DSM’s Data Center was built with solid reinforced concrete wall construction in accordance with the Florida Inland Hurricane Construction Code.
• DSM maintained 100% availability of power and network during the busy 2004 Hurricane season.

Power

• DSM is connected to a power feed supplied by Lakeland Electric, which provides power generation diversity from Tampa Electric and Florida Progress.
• Lakeland Electric is cross-connected to TECO and Orlando Utilities under the Florida Municipal Power Provider Act.
• The Lakeland Winston Peaking Station with 50MW capacity is located 2 miles to the east from the DSM Facility. The Peaking Station is also cross-connected to Progress Energy.
• DSM provides redundant UPS Power.
• DSM also provides 200KW and 400KW Backup Generators for the facility with 48 hours of fuel, and contracts with multiple refueling providers.

Network Connectivity

• DSM is a carrier-neutral facility and is served by a number of Tier 1 network providers.
• DSM local network is comprised of multiple SONET connections from Level3, Brighthouse Business Networks, and Verizon, which are provided through in-ground facilities. DSM is served from a separate Central Office in Lakeland, which provides diversity to the Tampa Main Central Office. DSM is peered with Verizon’s highly-redundant SONET Infrastructure that supports Central Florida.
